Cari lettori, facciamo un salto nell'alto territorio crotonese...., anzi l'ultimo comune carico di storia della provincia crotonese. posizione Crucoli ORIGINI - Nell'VIII secolo a.C. l'area pedemontana intorno a Crucoli era ancora abitata da una popolazione indigena (stirpe italica), poi nel VII secolo a.C. arrivarono i Greci che annessero questo pezzo di territorio ai possedimenti della potente colonia Achea di Kroton , in questo contesto orografico probabilmente sorgeva già un phrourion , ovvero una fortezza per garantire un efficace controllo. CURIOSITA ' - A valle del borgo attuale si trova il torrente di nome Nicà, utilizzato come limite geografico tra la chora (territorio) di Kroton con quella di Sybaris , il nome di questo torrente ci rimanda alla parola greca Nike (vittoria), sicuramente riferimento alla vittoria dei crotonesi sui sibariti.  in blu avamposto militare crotoniade nei pressi di Crucoli posizionato a cavallo fra la Chora di Kroton
